Watching the Sunday night BBC1 series, Seven Ages Of Britain, I am very impressed with the way David Dimbleby brings the stories of history to life. The series has been a sweeping historical epic and a great way to spend Sunday night in. David Dimbleby should rightly be regarded as one of our broadcasting treasures, along with others like Sir Michael, Alan Whicker and Wogan. I look forward to a great election night in with David and the team, who are far and away the best election night team going on any channel anywhere!

Good conversation should flow like fine wine amongst old friends....

Amen to that!  Dimbleby has done three great series recently, including A Picture of Britain and How we built Britain. His enthusiasm is infectious and his energy is remarkable for a man in his 70s.

He'll have to be a bit careful down on his farm though, after recently being knocked unconscious by one of his own cows. I too look forward to his election extravaganza - I still cherish the memory of the time when, trying to cope with a flood of incoming results, he announced "the result for Mrs. Finchley!" instead of Mrs.Thatcher's result from Finchley.
