Alastair Cook is probably an unlikely choice to captain and open the batting for a one-day side, but his form and that of England was mightily impressive, even if it was against Bangladesh, who are still finding their feet as a Test nation.

Kieswetter and Morgan made excellent contributions, as did Mr.Consistent Paul Collingwood, only the 9th player to pass 1000 runs, 100 wickets and 100 catches in one-day internatiionals. They even covered up the fact of Kevin Pietersen's total lack of form. England's performances in this series and in South Africa as well as the Ashes win last summer all prove that England, in the capable hands of coach Andy Flower, are on the rise again.
