The World Masters Tennis finals have been brilliant for Britain this week. Full packed audiences at the 02 arena witnessing fine tennis. Okay Murray was eliminated by the thinest of margins, but I truely hope Britain and indeed London and the 02 can keep the tournament on a permanent basis.

One sour note though the farcical scenes at the end of Del Potros game where he had to wait a painstaking 15 minutes on court while the powers that be scratched their heads as to who would progress to the semis. Murray or Del Potro on games won. That would never have happened at Wimbledon.

A disappointing end to a good year for Murray, having reached the dizzy heights of number 2 in the world. This may be a career crossroads for him - that elusive first grand slam title may be a bit further away than we thought. It would be nice if one or two other Brits were to make their mark and give him a bit of support.
