In 2008 I was fortunate to win the first ever dignity in care award in Wales. The evening was great and more so because I had been nominated by my staff team. I have worked in health and Social care for over 30yrs and I have fought for care of the elderly to be on a par with child care. We should be fighting for care staff to have a minimum of NVQ level 3 the same as child care, for staff not to be paid the lowest ever wage unlike child care, for the Protection of Vulnerable Adults to have as much clout as Child Protection,I could go on! I am trying to go around homes explaining what dignity in care means in everyday practical terms. We need everyone in our society to remember who the person is. We should not label them EMI or elderly frail each one is an individual person with a wounderful patchwork of life history, so let us remember that.

A visit to our Care Home or maybe a little speech!

Hello Michael

As a Dignity Ambassador I am hoping that you will be able to help me. I am holding a dignity party at the Blenheim Care Home in Ruislip Middlesex on Thursday 18th March as our Dinity Group is 1 years old, from 2pm, it would be so great if you could attend or perhaps write a little something that I could read out - it would mean a lot to the staff and residents! We had 100th birthday party today at the home and the mayor of Hillingdon came as a guest, we have also invited her to the Dignity Party and she is checking her diary!!!!

I know it sounds like a tall order but if you don't ask.....

I looked on the website for other ways to contact you or your adminstrators but this seemed the only route. I would very much appreciate someone coming back to me as it's such a worthy cause and one I know is very close to your heart.

Kind regards

Geraldine Moore, carer of dementia patients.....

geraldine2008@btinternet.com

This year's Proms

I couldn't agree more with you about how fabulous the MGM Musicals Prom was - I think Roger Wright has done wonders for the Proms programme since taking over the reigns. I sang in the Berlioz "Te Deum" the following Sunday, and I remember thinking about the night before and how rich and varied it's now become. This is exactly what the Promenade concerts are about

The Ukelele prom should be fun!!!

Etiquette Notice

While we of course appreciate comments and opinions expressed via the website forum concerning the Radio Times article on Jade Goody, we would also ask that the comments made are kept clean and respectful. We do not wish that the forum becomes a place for writing defamatory and nasty remarks aimed at Sir Michael Parkinson or Jade Goody. Racist or classist comments are also unacceptable.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

The same applies to messages emailed in to the website email address.

Many thanks for your co-operation.
